Expo Hire environmental and sustainability policy. Commitments on vehicle emissions, wash plant efficiency, re-use, repair, recycling and packaging.
Expo Hire UK Ltd operates under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and recognises both a legal and ethical responsibility to minimise the environmental impact of its operations. This statement sets out how we approach that responsibility across our day-to-day activities.
All vehicles in our delivery fleet are maintained to a high standard to keep exhaust emissions low and fuel efficiency high. We review the fleet regularly and replace vehicles that no longer meet our standards. Delivery routes are planned to reduce unnecessary mileage, combining deliveries and collections where possible.
We have invested in commercial wash plants for crockery, cutlery and glassware. These machines are designed for low water and energy consumption, and our choice of cleaning chemicals is guided by environmental impact. Linen is cleaned by external laundry partners who operate to their own environmental policies.
As a hire company, extending the useful life of every item we own is a core part of how we operate. We repair equipment rather than replace it wherever practical. When items reach the end of their hire life, we look first to resell them for continued use. Recycling or disposal is the last resort.
We use reusable crates and packaging for glassware and cutlery. Single-use plastic is only used where necessary to prevent damage to other items in transit.
Hiring equipment rather than buying it outright reduces waste at source. Items are used across hundreds of events over their lifetime rather than purchased once and discarded. For more on how the hire model reduces environmental impact, see our sustainability page.
